  1. REQUIREMENT This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for the following purposes
  • • to travel in transit through the Kingdom in order to proceed to the country of destination or to re-enter his/her own country (Category TS)
  • to participate in sports activities (sportsmen, sportswomen, etc.) (Category S)
  • the person in charge or crew of a conveyance coming to a port, station or area in the Kingdom (Code C)

2. VALIDITY OF A VISA — The validity of a visa is 3 months.

3. VISA FEE – 800 Baht per entry (Visa fee may be changed without prior notice)

4. PERIOD OF STAY — Travelers coming to Thailand with this type of visa will be permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period not exceeding 30 days.

  • to study, to come on a work study tour or observation tour, to participate in projects or seminars, to attend a conference or training course, to study as a foreign Buddhist monk (Category ED)
  • To work as a film-producer, journalist or reporter (Category M)
  • To perform missionary work or other religious activities with the concurrence of the Thai Ministries or Government Departments concerned (Category R)
  • To conduct scientific research or training or teaching in a research institute (Category RS)
  • To undertake skilled work or to work as an expert or specialist (Category EX)
  • Other activities (Category O) as follows:

            1) To stay with the family, to perform duties for the state enterprise or social welfare organizations to stay after retirement for the elderly, to receive medical treatment

            2) to be a sport coach as required by Thai Government, to be a contestant or witness for the judicial process.

             3) Performing duties or missions in the alien family Who temporarily enter the Kingdom to perform diplomatic duties A consul or perform other duties as a parent, spouse or dependent child and are part of the said household

2. VALIDITY OF A VISA

          2.1 Single-entry and multiple-entry visas are valid for three months.

           2.2 Multiple-entry visas could also be valid for one year.

3. VISA FEE 2,000 Baht for single entry and 5,000 Baht for multiple entries.

4. PERIOD OF STAY The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau.

5. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED The applicants must submit the following relevant documents depending on the purpose of their visit. – Visa application form completely filled out – Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months. The validity of 18 months is required for one year visa application. – (4 x 6 cm) photograph of the applicant, taken within the past six months – Evidence of adequate finance (20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family)

6. EXTENSION OF STAY Those qualified persons can obtain an additional one year stay permit counting from the date of entry in the Kingdom pertaining to the Office of the Immigration Bureau’s regulations on extension of stay. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the Immigration officer. *N.B. Applicants wishing to stay in the Kingdom longer than 90 days have to file their application either at the Thai consular mission aboard or at the Office of Immigration Bureau in Bangkok located on Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210, Tel 0-2141-9889 (or website at (http://www.immgration.go.th). The consular officer must refer the case to the Office of Immigration Bureau for approval. Upon receiving approval, the consular officer may issue the visa as instructed by the Bureau

Retirement Visa 1 Year (O-A)

This type of visa may be issued to applicants aged 50 years and over who wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 1 year without the intention of working.

    1. Eligibility

1.1 Applicant must be aged 50 years and over (on the day of submitting application).

1.2 Applicant not prohibited from entering the Kingdom.

1.3 Having no criminal record in Thailand and the country of the applicant’s nationality or residence.

1.4 Having the nationality of or permanent residence in the country where application is submitted.

1.5 Not having prohibitive diseases (Leprosy, Tuberculosis, drug addiction, Elephantiasis, third phase of Syphilis) as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 B.E. 2535.

1.6 Employment in Thailand is prohibited.

    1. Required Documents

2.1 Passport valid for at least 18 months.

2.2 visa application form 3 sets (with photo size 4X6 cm. straight face without hat (taken within a period of not more than 6 months)

2.3 A copy of personal profile

2.4 A copy of bank statement showing a deposit of the amount equal to and not less than 800,000 Baht or an income certificate (an original copy) with a monthly income of not less than 65,000 Baht, or a deposit account plus a monthly income totaling not less than 800,000 Baht. Or having a deposit account and income/pension (per month X 12), a total of not less than 800,000 baht (in the case of showing a copy of the deposit account, showing the certificate from the bank.) 

* (N.B. in the financial evidence showing that the petitioner may provide proof of deposit accounts or income in the country of his or her country of residence, do not need to be a deposit account in Thailand.)

2.5 A letter of verification issued from the country of his or her nationality or residence stating that the applicant has no criminal record (verification shall be valid for not more than three months and should be notarized by notary organs or the applicant’s diplomatic or consular mission).

2.6 A medical certificate issued from the country where the application is submitted, showing no prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation No.14 (B.E. 2535) (certificate shall be valid for not more than three months and should be notarized by notary organs or the applicant’s diplomatic or consular mission).

2.7 In the case where the accompanying spouse is not eligible to apply for the Category ‘O-A’ (Long Stay) visa, he or she will be considered for temporary stay under Category ‘O’ visa. The marriage certificate must be provided as evidence and should be notarized by notary organs or by the applicant’s diplomatic or consular mission.

    1. Recommendations for foreigners with Non-Immigrant Visa “O-A”

4.1 Upon arrival, holder of this type of visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for 1 year from the date of first entry.

4.2 At the end of the 90-day stay, the foreigner must reports to the immigration officer in his or her residence area and report again every 90 days during his or her stay in Thailand. The foreigner may reports to the police station if there is no immigration office in his or her residence area.

4.3 Foreigner who wishes to extend his or her stay shall submit a request for extension of stay at the Office of the Immigration Bureau with documented evidence of money transfer or a deposit account in Thailand or an income certificate showing an amount of not less than 800,000 Baht or an income certificate plus a deposit account showing a total amount of not less than 800,000 Baht. A one-year extension of stay shall be granted at the discretion of the immigration officer to the foreigner as long as he or she meets the above requirements.

Non-Immigrant Visa “O-X” (Long Stay) 10 ปี (Category O-X) 10 ปี (รหัส O-X)

This type of Non- Immigrant Visa “O-X” is a special case. Because it is the only case that the applicants can obtain a visa at the embassy / consulate general or the Immigration office Which is in accordance with the Cabinet resolution on 22 November 2016 in support promote and develop tourism for a long stay.     1. Applicants’ qualifications

1.1 Age of 50 years old or over

1.2 Applicants must hold passport and nationality of (1) Japan (2) Australia (3) Denmark (4) Finland (5) France (6) Germany (7) Italy (8) Netherlands (9) Norway (10) Sweden (11) Switzerland (12) United Kingdom (13) Canada (14) United States of America.

1.3 Financial qualifications (a) Applicants must have money deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand with the amount of not less than 3 million Baht; or (b) Applicants must have money deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand with the amount of not less than 1.8 million Baht and have income with the amount of not less than 1.2 million Baht per year. Once the applicants enter Thailand, they must have accumulated money deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand not less than 3 million Baht within 1 year. The money in (a) and (b) must be kept in bank account at least 1 year before withdrawing and, within another next year, the money must be left in the account with the amount of not less than 1.5 million Baht and can only be spent in Thailand.

1.4 Applicants must not have a background that threaten to constancy, both to Thailand and the country of nationality or countries where they have permanent residence.

1.5 Applicants must have no forbidden diseases according to the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 (B.E. 2535) which include Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Elephantiasis, drug addiction and third stage of Syphilis.

1.6 Applicants must have Thai medical insurance during their stay in Thailand (per the approval of the Office of Insurance Commission) and medical claims for outpatient must not be less than 40,000 Baht, for inpatient must not be less than 400,000 Baht.

    1. Required Documentation

2.1 Passport that valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel.
2.2 Three (3) application forms and 3 photographs (size 4 X 6 cm. taken within the last 6 months)

      • Certificate of bank deposit stating bank contact information, copy of bank book and bank statement which shows fixed deposit with the amount of not less than 3 million Baht deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand; or
      • Certificate of bank deposit stating bank contact information, copy of bank book and bank statement which shows fixed deposit with the amount of not less than 1.8 million Baht deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand and certificate of annual income with the amount of not less than 1.2 million Baht (local currency equivalent) per year. (Once the applicants enter Thailand, they must have accumulated money deposited in Thai bank located in Thailand not less than 3 million Baht within 1 year.)

2.5 Certificate of criminal record clearance from the country of nationality. In case the applicants have permanent residence in other country, they must provide the aforementioned document from both country of nationality and country of permanent residence.

2.6 Medical certificate from the country where the applicants apply visa stating that applicants don’t have any prohibited diseases according to the Ministerial Regulation No. 14 (B.E.2535) which include Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Elephantiasis, drug addiction, third stage of Syphilis. The medical certificate must not be issued over 3 months.

2.7 Copy of evidence stating that applicants have insurance as per stipulated by the Office of Insurance Commission and health insurance of Thailand which has insurance money for outpatient not less than 40,000 Baht and for inpatient not less than 400,000 Baht.

2.8 Visa fee: 10,000 Baht (local currency equivalent)

* Spouses and legitimate children can obtain a Non – Immigrant Visa “O-X” too

2.9 For spouse (no age restriction) can apply for Non-O-X visa (must be a legitimate spouse) must show a copy of marriage certificate together with documents stated in 1-8.

2.10 Child age under 20 years old must show a copy of birth certificate or proof of legitimate child and also have to submit documents number 1-3, 7 and 8.

 
  1. If you have an extension of stay or simple permit to stay (of a tourist or non-immigrant visa), but would like to travel outside Thailand for a short period then you will need to apply for a Re-Entry permit.

You need to obtain the re-entry permit before you travel at:

            – Thai Immigration located at Chaengwattana Road, Bangkok, or

            – Any other local immigration offices, or

            – International airports such as Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi.

When applying for a re-entry permit you will need to submit the following:

            – A completed T.M.8 form

            – The correct fee

            – One 4×6 cm. Photograph

            – Photocopy of passport (main page and latest entry stamp)

The current fees for re-entry permits are as follows:

            – 1,000 THB for Single Entry

            – 3,800 THB for Multiple Entry

            – The fees at the airport may be higher than the fees at the local immigration office.

            – Re-entry permits can be applied for in person or by an agent at Thai immigration office. If an agent is used, a letter of attorney is required.

*N.B.

            Please know that the re-entry permit does not prolong your visa or permit to stay. It is just a permit to be able to return to Thailand and use the remaining days of your permit to stay or extension of stay. Remember when arriving back into Thailand, you must note the re-entry permit number on the Immigration.

  1.  who have been granted temporary residence in the Kingdom If staying in the Kingdom for more than 90 days, that alien has the duty to report the residence notice to the staff of the Immigration Office every 90 days. If any locality has an immigration office located, may notify the competent official at that office. This is in accordance with Article 37 (5) of the Immigration Act 1979.

    Procedure and notification:

                – The foreigner makes the notification in person, or

                – The foreigner authorizes another person to make the notification, or

                – The foreigner makes the notification by registered mail, or

                – Via internet.

                – The notification must be made within 15 days before or after 7 days the period of 90 days expires.

                – The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days.

    *N.B.

                – The notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days is in no way equivalent to a visa extension.

                – If a foreigner staying in the kingdom over 90 days without notifying the Immigration Bureau or notifying the Immigration Bureau later than the set period, a fine of 2,000.- Baht will be collected. If a foreigner who did not make the notification of staying over 90 days is arrested, he will be fined 4,000.- Baht.

                – If a foreigner leaves the country and re-enters, the day count starts at 1 in every case.
